I developed hives last December. It was pretty mild at first, just on my hands and feet when I was cold. In about march I had a really bad break out and have been getting them since then. I get them all over now. I have been to an allergy spec.,internal spec.Etc.. I get them when its cold,hot,or when i'm active. I also have bad allergies to dust,and all animals. I have recently become allergic to antihistamines.Kinda funny ha?I have bad allergies but can't take anything. Does anyone have that? I really hate my hives. I have two daughters and a husband,but spend most of my days by myself. I am so depressed all the time now. I have been seeing a chinese herbalist and it is helping. Hi.... I have had hives ( urticaria ) for a year now. 4 months back, I went to consult a naturopath. He put me on a regimen of vitamins, exercise and meditation. It has improved my condition tremendously. He says it can be cured and I am seeing the early result of this. I recommend you go see a natural healer - one who uses natural remedies. Before this naturopath, I saw 10 doctors - from skin specialists to GPs. All they gave me were steroids, anti-histamines, creams. Didn't help at all. Western docs will tell you that there is not cure for urticaria - ie, hives. But there is. Go see a good practitioner of natural healing. They may be more expensive but it works. Good luck! hi! I think I have finally found the answer to chronic hives after 2 years and 6 doctors! I have Celiac Disease...its an intolerance to gluten which is found in most foods..dairy, breads, barley, oats, etc. In some instances this disease is triggered by an infection or some major event physically....anyway, I developed hives slowly, starting with my feet and after a few months of waking up at night, using every anti-itch cream available, they started to get worse and now are all over my body. Zyrtec works great as an antihistamine--but it made me to tired I thought I had chronic Fatigue! Finally after getting off of those drugs and doing lots of research on the web I found Celiac disease...I have little itchy clusters similiar to hives on my face, stomach and rear. This is also a symptom...anyway that led to the blood tests and a stomach biopsy to further diagnose the disease! As awful as all this sounds, this illness can be contolled with diet...very restricted but within a few days you should feel better. Let me know if this diagnosis could be the answer for you..apparently it is now becoming very common...1 in 200 people..especially if your anscestors are from Ireland, England, northern europe..apparently a genetic marker exists. dear kemana your condition sounds exactly like what i went thru several years ago during recently my condition kind of got out of hand after a bout of serious one important factor i found over the years is you must learn to relax and sorry that i can't give you any high hopes but be assured that once you good cheer. I don't know if this will help, but I seem to be able to avoid my hives by not consuming FD&C Yellow Dye #5 (tartrazine). It took my nearly 20 years to pinpoint this link to my hives. I was mainly bothered by delayed pressure urticaria, but occasionally had solar and cold urticaria. I also had red spots on my palms and other more conventional hives. Yellow 5 is contained in a number of products. Reading lables helps to identify these products, but various web sites are of help as well. Here is a list of some of the products that, apparently, sometimes contain yellow 5: vitamins, calcium supplements, other over-the-counter drugs, prescription drugs, mouthwash, toothpaste, alcoholic products, cocktail mixes (e.g. sour mixes like margarita mix), mustard, pickles, cheese, processed shrimp and other shellfish, macaroni and cheese, bakery goods, candies, cereal, ice cream, gelatin, cookies, dried fruit, butter, margarine, pasta, gum, cold cuts (luncheon meats), fruit drinks, jams ,jellies, hot dogs, sausage casings, maraschino cherries, aqueous drug solutions, eggnog, curry dishes, cookie decorations, lozenges, and cosmetics. It is also in animal feed. Yellow, green and pastel products are potential sources of yellow 5. More troublesome is that some golden, white, and clear products have yellow 5 as well - e.g. a brand of refrigerator rolls, a vanilla milkshake according to one fast food web site, and some brands of vodka. Once I came across a raspberry flavored dark chocolate candy bar with yellow 5. In the US, alcoholic products aren't required to list yellow 5 on their labels. Some wines, beers, hard liquors, and liqueurs contain yellow 5. I've seen some information that indicates that FD&C Red Dye #40 has a chemical structure similar to that of Yellow Dye #5. Both have been linked to hives. Eliminating yellow 5 (and red 40) from your diet may not clear up your hives, but it appears to have worked for me. Good luck! IP: Logged |
